“28 days” by Olga Shilyaeva is the main Russian feminist play, as well as the first menstrual cycle tragedy. The play features a chorus of hormones, 28 episodes, Snow White and her poor paramour. A heated battle between gender stereotypes and scientific fact, hormones and rational mind, the woman and creation - takes place on the stage. In the hands of director Yury Muravitsky the main feminist text becomes an oratory and the performers act it out on such sky-high level of self-irony, that in the end, the play hurts neither the feelings of feminists, nor of those for whom the topic of menstruation has been stigmatized up till now.

The bold, painful, frank and ironic feminist oratorio for Chorus, Heroine and Male voice is composed on the principle of ancient tragedy and it is about a woman's relationship with society, men, her own nature and the Universe depending on the stages of her menstrual cycle. “The tragedy of the menstrual cycle,” as the author of the play has identified the genre, tells about the physical and emotional state of a woman at different stages of this physiological process, as well as about interaction with the outside world - men, information flow, news background, annoying factors ... The life experience is exacerbating the situation - direct references to flash mobs sound # I’mnotafraidtosay and #meeither, the brutality and dullness of those around are emphasized, their unwillingness to notice the obvious. The whole block is reserved for a set of worldly wisdom and stereotypes, which do not bring relief to the Heroine.
