DJ PAVEL

Pavel Pryazhko’s plays can acquire most unimaginable forms: there is one which consists of one sentence or one that includes 535 photos and 13 signs to these photos. “DJ Pavel”, the play devoted to Mikhail Ugarov, is 11 tracks carefully collected from the pop culture of the 80s. As for the show of Teatr Post, it consists of equally careful dancing around the vinyl turntable. Just asthis show does not have a director (the connections are exclusively horizontal, and every participant in the show is its creator), it doesn’t have a strict conceptual foundation. Barefoot spectators around the dance floor with a DJ stand are free to invent their own pass-through plots featuring smash-hits by Alla Pugacheva and Valeriy Leontiev, either to look for meaning in the hermetic form of the show or to build a new tender relationship with the Soviet pop scene. Devoid of rough irony towards the past and not trying to disguise itself as the disco of the 80s, the show creates a timeless atmosphere of love and joy accompanied by truly great songs.

Драматург Павел Пряжко предписал Диджею ставить на вертушку Аллу Пугачеву, Михаила Боярского и «Веселых ребят», а четверым артистам – выходить на танцпол и двигаться под музыку. Спектакль можно смотреть как историю, рассказанную песнями, как срез сразу нескольких времен, как личное признание в любви или как холодную и цинично выстроенную форму – все сработает. Танцами в «Диджее Павле» заведует хореограф Максим Петров. Для танцовщиков Мариинского театра он ставил балеты музыку Рамо и Прокофьева, здесь для совсем других танцоров он подобрал музыке конгениальный язык тела. Новый спектакль «театра post» посвящен Михаилу Угарову, и это закономерно не только как дань памяти коллеге, но и как оммаж человеку, открывшему дорогу документальному театру в России. Можно сказать, что «Диджей Павел» – это музыкантский вербатим, где с нами говорит позднесоветская эстрада.
